Open Studio Hours are your time to shine!

Currently enrolled adult students are welcome to work on class projects and practice skills during Open Studio Hours.  With your class enrollment, you are provided with storage space for works-in-progress and access to tools and glazes.

‍ ‍Open Studio Reservation System

  • Due to the popularity of our classes, we’re excited to introduce a new reservation system for open studio hours! Each open studio day will offer varying amounts of three-hour time slots. Students can reserve one spot per day.

  • Five of our wheels will be available by reservation, while the other five will remain open for drop-in use. Reservations can be made up to 24 hours in advance and will close at the start of each open studio day. The amount of reserved wheels will be adjusted throughout the session depending on how busy we are (for example, having more reserved wheel times during the last few weekends of the session as those are typically busiest). Any unreserved wheels will be opened up for drop-in use.

  • You can reserve your Open Studio Seat Here: Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays

Open Studio Privileges

  • Open Studio Hours are for current enrollees in our Adult Series Classes.

  • Open Studio access expires at the end of the current enrolled series.

  • Your class enrollment includes 25 pounds of Laguna B-Mix 5. Once you have used your allotted 25 pounds (way to go!), you can buy additional clay from Studio on the Common during class time or Open Studio Hours. 5 pounds of clay can be purchased for $10 (cash only). Please do not bring outside clay into Studio on the Common—all clay must be purchased through us for quality assurance and to cover firing and glaze costs.

    Open Studio Etiquette

  • Clean your wheel, tools, and surrounding workspace thoroughly after each use. If your wheel or tools are left dirty, you will be charged a $15 cleaning fee.

  • This is your time to work independently. We are happy to answer general questions, but there is no formal instruction provided during this time.

  • Please treat staff and other students with respect. Inappropriate and disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Clean up takes 30 minutes, so please be sure to budget your time accordingly to be out of the studio by 4pm.

Cleanliness is paramount in ceramics studios as excessive clay dust poses a health hazard.
